The authors present the results of the original research on the professional motivation of comprehensive school teachers. The study reveals that the level of motivation to achieve the goal and success of the majority of teachers is moderately high. The leading motivation guidelines are represented by the focus on power and money. Career aspirations and the need to achieve high social status and respect are the leading motives to work. Instrumental and economic types of work motivation are the dominant ones. Teachers of the instrumental type prefer to meet the challenges in the range of average and higher complexity while teachers of the economic type focus on material benefits rather than job content. It is concluded that the research findings based on the authors’ methodical toolkit will help school administration identify the priorities for enhancing teachers’ professional motivation.
