Collective resignation of young educators and scientists from the institutes of higher education, the aging of faculty caused a number of government decisions aimed at attracting youth to working at universities. The development of measures to attract young scientists and educators will contribute to the identification of factors affecting the success of their research and teaching activities. In our opinion, the first place among the factors affecting the success of educators activities takes the problem of motivation. The diagnostics of motivation and value sphere of young scientists and educators was held using following parameters: the degree of satisfaction of basic human needs; predominant type of achievement motivation; life and sense orientations; values at the level of individual social behavior. As a result, the motivation and value factors that determine the success of the professional activities of young scientists and educators were identified. The results of research can be used to create a system of non-financial motivation of the faculty of universities, taking into account the motivation and value sphere of high performance young scientists; to develop recommendations for the selection of the faculty, to form the personnel reserve of Russian universities.
