Multimedia programs in the context of formation of foreign language ethnocultural competence

This article examines the role of multimedia programs in the formation of foreign language ethnocultural competence, as well as the impact of such programs on the development of foreign language skills. Since the use of multimedia programs helps to activate the process of learning a foreign language, increasing the involvement of students, the teacher has the opportunity to enrich the educational process with a variety of visual and audiovisual materials. At the same time, another positive aspect of using multimedia programs is the so-called clip thinking inherent in the modern generation. Watching short videos can allow students to grasp cultural differences, develop the ability to dialogue between cultures, and develop the skill of comparison. The author examines the impact of multimedia technologies on the development of communication skills in a foreign language and immersion in a foreign language culture. The article is an overview of existing multimedia programs: Miro - an interactive whiteboard, VK Video - a video hosting and applications such as Quizlet and Wordwall. Next, an analysis of the effectiveness of using these programs in educational activities was conducted, recommendations were created for integrating such programs into the educational process to improve the level of foreign language ethnocultural competence of students. At the same time, the advantages of such an approach were analyzed, including increased motivation, improved understanding of the cultural characteristics of English-speaking countries, as well as the development of intercultural skills. As a result of the study, it is concluded that multimedia programs contribute to a deeper and more conscious acquisition of a foreign language and the formation of ethnocultural competence. The article offers practical recommendations for integrating multimedia programs into the educational process using the example of one of the cultural codes - the plant code.
