National security as the basis of the Russian statehood

The article considers the essence of national security as an integral component for the achievement, preservation and development of statehood on the example of the Russian Federation. The general nature of the connection between national security, as a phenomenon and direction of state policy, with other types of security (individual, society, state) is revealed from the standpoint of the social contract theory and on the basis of the history of the emergence of «nation-states», a description of the phenomenon of statehood is given, the relationship of these objects is determined research.
