The research examines the characteristics of the traditional culture of the East Slavs, its significance and ways to solve several problems of its study, preservation, and development in modern vocational education. The paper discusses the help of folk craftsmen, the bearers of national culture, the custodians of people’s worldview when training students in folk art culture. The research analyzes the stages of selecting teaching techniques in vocational educational institutions. They include both the substantiation of the content of cognitive interest and the detection of its identification patterns in the educational process. While studying traditional culture and learning from the experience of folk craftsmen, students realize and understand the depth of handmade items. The training will result in students’ ability to create highly artistic works of folk art without the control of a folk craftsman.
