Scientific regional studies as the basis of the regional content of school geography

The article deals with the issues of the regional studies training of students in the context of the current educational standards. There is paid special attention to the regional content of school geography, the scientific researches of the geography of the Volgograd region are considered as its basis. There is analyzed the educational potential of the published works of the department of geography, geoecology and the teaching methods of geography of Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University while organizing the curricular and extracurricular regional studies.
