Short-term results of multimodality treatment including preoperative daily dose fractionation radiation therapy at a total dose of 30 Gy and radiomodification with capecitabine 1650 mg/m2 /day were analyzed in 107 patients with stage I-IV gastric cancer. The control group consisted of 147 patients who underwent radical surgery. Preoperative radiation therapy was well tolerated without any radiation-induced adverse effects in the postoperative period.
