Developing a modern model for training teachers with competencies in multiple subject areas is becoming a critical task amidst the ongoing educational optimization in remote and small schools in Yakutia. The need to develop a model for training multidisciplinary teachers is driven by the region’s specific conditions, including a harsh climate, low population density, limited infrastructure, and a shortage of teaching staff. This study aims to address the challenges of continuous professional development for teachers in the context of regional optimization. In small, remote schools, this issue is becoming increasingly pressing due to declining student enrollment, and the reduction in the number of educational psychologists, social educators, and administrative and management staff. The main goals and objectives of the study are to examine rural teachers’ readiness for continuous professional development, to study their needs for multidisciplinary and multi-subject qualifications, and to examine the current state of the teaching labor market in the Republic.
