In the era of a new stage of human development, states are faced with the need to create an information society. Building a progressive community that meets the modern challenges of the era of «digitalization» becomes impossible without training a generation endowed with professional competencies and important social skills. This article reveals the relevance of the formation of information technology competence at the social level among tourism and hospitality specialists. The experience of training future personnel of the hotel industry on the example of an educational institution is presented.
