The article deals with the material moneyed motivation of teachers of comprehensive schools. There is revealed its interrelation with the social and economic aspects of the work activities: the unwillingness of the sizable percentage of the graduates of the pedagogical universities to work in specialty; the limitation of the diapason of the potential of the professional development of the teacher; the reputation of the profession “teacher”, etc. The authors present the results of the analysis of the salary of the teachers of the comprehensive school in relation to the markers of the index of the customer prices, the purchasing power and the index of the cost of living.
