Features of French speech in vocal miniatures by French composers at the turn of the 20th century

The French vocal music at the turn of the 20th century is a complete layer of musical culture perceived as a deeply national phenomenon. The specific features of the French speech are realized in vocal miniatures by Gabriel Fauré, Emmanuel Chabrier, Ernest Chausson, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, determining the originality of their compositions. The structural logic of the sentence, the original intonation and phonetics, some features of lexis and problem of speech etiquette are considered in this article as a special aspect of musical language in French chamber-vocal opuses.
