The research problem and the rationale for its relevance. Relevance of the development of personal and professional qualities of the specialists of the internal bodies is justified by the requirements of the modern society and the state to the performance of professional functions and significant difficulties faced by young police officers. The problem of studying methodological and pedagogical prerequisites for updating additional professional programs implemented in police training institutions is being updated. The goal of research. Identification of methodological and pedagogical grounds for updating additional professional programs and designing their content in terms of social responsibility development for young police officers. The results of the analysis of actual researches in the field of forming social responsibility of a police officer are given. Also the pedagogical possibilities and principles of forming the content of additional educational programs are analyzed. Methodology. The methodological basis of the study is the idea of advanced training, creating a promising situation for continuous development. The creation of such a situation, expressed in the design of the relevant content, forms and methods of education and professional development is significant, including for the development of personal qualities of police officers and their professional development. Results. As a result, the project of meaningful directions of the module course “Social Responsibility in the Structure of Professional and Significant Qualities of a Police Officer” is offered. Theoretical novelty of the research is in applying the ideas of advanced education to the practice of designing additional professional programs, as well as their methodological and didactic support. Practical importance is presented in the form of a draft of directions for updating the content of additional professional education of police officers in the aspect of social responsibility development.
