The enrichment of semantic space of abilities for professional activity in interaction of a Master's degree student with an employer acts as a condition for the improvement of professional qualities in mastering the educational program “Theory of Sports and Technologies of Sports Training”. In this regard, the aim of our study was to identify the resources for enriching the semantic space of the Master's degree programme's abilities relevant to the profession based on the content analysis of research and pedagogical practices of the specified master's program. The study was carried out on the basis of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Health of the Moscow State University using survey methods, benchmarking and nonparametric statistical methods. The semantic blocks of actual abilities disclosed in the study initiate the development of professional thinking at the conjunction of value, activity and productive aspects of a specialist's professional activity in the sports system and are a pre-requisite for improving the educational program, assuming their compliance with modern demands
