Grounds for translation decisions in the cognitive aspect-analysis of "the mundial" concept verbalization

The article attempts to show the effectiveness of the use of cognitive-discursive analysis at the stage of pre-translation analysis of the source text. Analytical articles in Spanish dedicated to the World Cup held in Russia in 2018 are used as source texts. A brief description of the main theoretical provisions of sports discourse is given, and the general picture of cognitive terminology is outlined. The verbal implementation of the MUNDIAL concept is analyzed: the selected slots and sub-slots of the frame (structure) of the concept are described in detail with the accompanying justifications for the allocation of these particular slots and sub-slots. The division into slots and sub-slots defines the projection of a term system that is implemented in sports discourse, and in it individual verbal representatives of the studied concept are grouped. These are sports terms. When describing the language implementation of the MUNDIAL concept, the authors also make use of the definitional analysis of individual representative words, giving their definitions from Spanish explanatory dictionaries. The grounds for translation decisions is given in the form of comparative tables containing the source text and translated text, the tables are accompanied by commentary on specific examples. These examples are well-reasoned translation reflections based on the interpretation of the terminological potential of linguistic units of the source text and their subsequent translation with preservation of the embedded meanings.
