В статье описаны основные фитоморфные образы, которые присущи афроамериканской литературе рубежа ХХ-ХХI веков. При проведении исследования были использованы произведения Т.К. Бамбары, Д. Белтона, Б. Берты, У. Демби, Б. Джексон, М. Джонсона, М. Диксона, Э. Гейнса, Б. Кэмбелл, Р. Кенана, С. Корбина, О. Лорд, К. МакЕлрой, Н. Маккейя, Т. МакМиллан, Дж. Макферсона, К. Мейджора, Дж. Маккласки, М. Монро, Г. Нейлор, Д. Пинкни, Дж. Райта, Дж. Рида, Сэпфайи, Дж. Уайдмена, Э. Уоркер, К. Форда, К. Хантер, М. Харпера, Т. Харрис, Ф. Шейк, М. Эванс и др. Результаты позволяют сделать вывод, что для большинства авторов основной становится модель «Растение - человек». Мы также описываем общие особенности оформления этой модели с учетом этнических черт, характерных для афроамериканской литературы в целом. В исследовании применяются элементы методологии, берущей начало из работ по метафорическому моделированию и доработанной нами с точки зрения возможности более точного анализа языковых данных. Результаты работы вносят вклад в разработку проблем метафорологии, филологического анализа художественного текста, лексикологии английского языка. Отдельные итоги будут полезны ученым, занимающимся проблемами лингвокультурологического характера.
