The article analyses how language influences the formation of democratic tendencies in society. The author argues that discoursive differences of rulers and their subjects may result in the wrong interpretation of utterances, discriminatory behavior and, consequently, may lead to the creation of a non-democratic state. Thus, democratic ideas of Jesus and Confucius were understood as antidemocratic because of the use of archaic language and inaccuracies of translation.
