Teaching master's degree students academic writing on the basis of variable programs

The paper has been concerned with the actual problem of training highly qualified personnel in the field of information technology, future engineers who will be able to solve professional problems successfully in an international environment. The purpose of the paper is to present a methodological system for the formation of general scientific and subject competencies that develop the professional competence of master's degree students by means of a foreign language. The author presents the methodological basis of the study, analyzes the scientific publications of scientists on this issue, describes the content of teaching a foreign language for professional purposes, which includes the development of foreign language written scientific discourse skills, and also proposes an algorithm for teaching master's degree students various types of academic writing. The system of tasks is presented, that is aimed at the formation and development of professional communicative competence of master's degree students, skills and abilities in scientific written discourse. The results of the study prove that the developed courses on teaching academic writing are effective, which is confirmed by the analysis of scientific publications of master's degree students. The paper presents guidelines for organizing the process of teaching academic writing, which can be applied in non-linguistic universities when teaching master's degree students.
