The article presents the results of the diagnostic techniques we used in the study (through descriptive statistics) in the form of measures of the central trend, such as fashion, median and average, to assess the level of formation of orientation and identity of future teachers of vocational education. In the course of our research, statistically confirmed correlations were found in the degree of development of the previously mentioned phenomena, including between the scales “goals in life” and “creative activity”, “creative activity” and “life process”, “public utility” and “life process”, “public utility” and “locus of control – life”, “creative activity” and “comfort”, “creative activity” and “social status”. However, the study has a number of limitations. First of all, the diagnosis was carried out exclusively through a limited set of methods. In addition, the study focused on students of only one higher educational institution. Based on the research done and taking into account the results obtained, it is concluded that it is necessary to develop a career guidance program to cover students of the I–II courses and study the dynamics of the development of the phenomena of professional orientation and identity. The survey participants should be helped to form it for their senior years, including through psychological and pedagogical counseling. For the most part, we are dealing with first-year students of the Ural State Pedagogical University (formerly the Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University) in the field of Vocational training (by industry), who currently do not have clearly set goals, as well as beliefs and values regarding future professional and pedagogical activities.
