Confrontation as an investigative action in Russian criminal proceedings

The presented article discusses a number of issues arising during the confrontation, both at the stage of preliminary investigation and at the stage of judicial investigation. It is noted that the confrontation is one of the most important investigative actions aimed at obtaining reliable information by eliminating significant contradictions in the testimony of previously interrogated persons. Various points of view on the concept of «confrontation» are considered, the tasks and stages of preparation for the production of confrontation are investigated. Article 5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation is proposed to supplement paragraph 23.1 by including the concept of «confrontation» in this paragraph, Part 6 of Article 192 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation is proposed to make an addition.
