The article is devoted to the role of perception in the creation of “ontological units of culture artifacts, subjects and events. Relying on the methodological approach of V.B.Melas, according to which the categorical pair “perception acceptance” provides the construction of “existing” in culture, the author seeks to at least concisely describe the specifics of perception, which is considered as a mechanism that distin guishes local objects from the background of the world and forms a picture of reality. The article notes that, bearing a deep difference in themselves, concretely sensual and things and ideas generalizations are still perceived by people as somewhat similar and comparable, in any case interacting and passing into each other. The symbolic is fully perceived, not just understood. But perception, creating for consciousness what exists in culture, itself obeys a number of cultural matrices: archetypes, categories, attitudes, habitus, which direct perception, form the direction of the perceiving attention. The article highlights such important points for the perception of something as “existing” as the significance of the perceived, its connection with the practical interests of people, as well as the inevitable indirection of cultural perception the need to trust the experience of other people and their picture of the world. The author emphasizes that the question of the cultural mechanisms of “ontological creativity” is highly topical, because the phenomenon of “perception acceptance” is actively used in the media.
