An educational experiment to identify the level of English proficiency in students of philology departments

Although extensive research has been carried out on the educational experiment, there is no ambiguous and generally accepted view on its methodological basis and the ways to do it effectively in modern education science and practice. In this regard, the purpose of the study is to test the hypothesis and extend the range of experiment techniques (and their combinations). The author conducts the educational experiment to identify the initial level of English proficiency in general and digital English proficiency in particular in students of Philology and other Departments in several universities. In the context of this experiment, the concept of digital proficiency is regarded as a subset of the overall assessment of the level of English proficiency. The research findings can form the basis for recommendations to develop student engagement with educational content and demonstrate that e-learning courses are a factor in improving students' academic performance in English.
