The intensity of steel ingots secondary cooling at semicontinuous casting substantially defines their quality. It is established that the uniform finely divided dispersion of water in a stream of air allows to exclude distortion of an ingot form in transverse section and appearance of hot cracks. The system of the soft air-to-water cooling of ingots is shown. Data on ingots quality are provided.
