Experience in translating the text of the performance from Russian to French: rationale for translation decisions

The article attempts to analyze the experience gained in the process of translating the text of the performance from Russian into French, and to justify the adopted translation decisions. Translation difficulties, which had to be overcome in the process of translation, were highlighted at the pre-translating stage of work with the text in Russian. The editing of the translated text was completed after applying for a final "check" with native speakers of the French language. The article focuses on the problem of translation of the literary text, which is considered from the standpoint of the multifaceted category of the atricality, interpretation and decoding of the author's meanings. The translation process is understood in terms of activity as an act of complex mental activity of the translator. The interpreter himself acts as a mediator between representatives of two different cultures, a link and a repeater of the director's intentions, with a clear focus on the communicative pair "actor-viewer". The article emphasizes the importance of the correct translation of verbal components of the performance of the original text in Russian, which is achieved through active search for "balance" between the image and semantic design of the text sounding from the stage by means of the language of translation. Positive reaction on the part of the French audience, both during the performance and after its completion, allows us to speak about the artistic impact and validity of the adopted translation decisions. As the main theoretical basis, the authors of the article refer to the concept of typological dominance and categories of poetry of the original text. The leading translation strategy is the representation of the poetry of the original text in the translated text.
