The experience of the Buryat folklore polyfony application in the second (Buryat) quartet of B. Nagovitsyn

The purpose of the article is to study the possibilities of applying the means of polyphony in the traditional Oriental melodies that have been developed in European music. The material of the research is the score of the Second (Buryat) Quartet of V. L. Nagovitsyn whose themes are based on the Buryat folk melodies. The use of different types of polyphony and polyphonic techniques is revealed, the main place among them belongs to stretta imitations. Their classification into types and functions, number of voices, structure, forms of introduction, application of canonical forms, use of techniques of complex counterpoint is made. The conclusion about the harmony of a wide application of various polyphonic means in composing creativity of Buryatia is made.
