This publication presents the first translation into Russian of Ordo Romanus I , a Latin liturgical monument of the early Middle Ages (first half of the 8th century). The document belongs to the category of medieval Latin liturgical books - Ordines Romani , which contain prescriptions regarding the ceremonial side of worship, and, therefore, are sources of information extremely important for liturgical science. Ordo Romanus I contains a detailed description of the stationary worship ( statio ) on Easter day in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. In the Roman Church, the word statio was used to refer to the solemn Mass celebrated by the Pope with a council of bishops and clergy and preceded by the procession of the pontiff, accompanied by his retinue and people, from the Lateran Palace through the streets of Rome to the designated church. Ordo Romanus I reflects the liturgical practice of the Eucharistic worship service characteristic of the historical period from the reign of Pope St. Gregory the Great (590-604) before the pontificate of Pope Sergius I (650-701). The document also contains important information about the administrative structure of the Church in Rome ( Dioecesis Urbis ) - its division into seven ecclesiastical districts, the duties of clergy, church officials, etc.
