Complications during positron emission tomography combined with x-ray computed tomography in patients with cancer

Бесплатный доступ

The majority of scientific studies and publications on positron emission tomography combined with X-ray computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with malignant neoplasms (MN) are related to the role of PET/CT in clarifying the extent of the tumour process, the influence of the study on the choice of therapeutic tactics and in the evaluation of treatment control. Complications of PET/CT exist, but they are not often the object of scientific analyses and publications. At the same time, complications of PET/CT can lead to inaccurate assessment of tumour process and choice of inadequate treatment. Complications can be potentially lethal. The aim of our work was to review publications on PET/CT complications and to conduct our own prospective observational study to identify the nature of complications and their frequency during PET/CT in patients with cancer.
