Peculiarities of decorative approach to dwelling interior design at the end of the 20th century

Being an element of universal culture, dwelling interior of any historical period bears characteristic features of interior created by the predecessors. At the same time, specified by a definite historical situation and social requirements, it reflects changes in the way of life by using modern technical and expressive means, more developed constructional methods and new approaches to interior space layout. Modern interior design, apart from «architectural» method in projecting dwelling interior, implies a «decorative» technique. The latter is connected with exploration of object placing and principles of forming artistic-figurative integrity in the organized interior space. Based on the examples of implemented projects, the author of the article considers the peculiarities of decorative approach to dwelling interior design, which marked its stylistic image at the turn of the 21st century.
