The article raises the problem of age-related changes in the emotional sphere of elderly women. Particular attention is given to the problem of loneliness, which often accompanies old age and has a significant negative impact on mental well-being. The mechanisms by which loneliness affects the emotional state of eldery women are studied, and the manifestations of depression, anxiety, apathy and feelings of hopelessness that may be associated with this factor. The potential of volunteer activity as a means of prevention and correction of negative emotional states in elderly women in Russia is analyzed. It is noted that the benefits of “silver age” volunteering are to create a supportive environment that promotes social integration and prevents social isolation. A detailed description of the methodology of the diagnostic study carried out to determine the influence of voluntary activity on the emotional state of elderly women is given. It is important to note that the results were quite mixed. The authors recognize a non-linear relationship between the subjects' participation in volunteer activities and their improved emotional state. Finally, there is a need for further research on this issue and the development of more targeted programs to support the emotional well-being of eldery women.
