Quality of life in patients with recurrent miscarriage

Miscarriage is any spontaneous termination of pregnancy from conception till 37 weeks. In the Russian Federation, recurrent miscarriage is considered as spontaneous termination of pregnancy in case of two consecutive pregnancies terminated in spontaneous abortion before 37 weeks. According to various authors, the incidence of this pathology is from 2 to 5 % with a tendency to increase. Previously, the causes of miscarriage were considered only in obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology. Recurrent miscarriage is a stress factor that has a negative impact on the mental state of a woman. Aim. The paper aims to study the quality of life in patients with recurrent miscarriage for assessing the effectiveness of its treatment. Materials and methods. This study involved 150 fertile age women during and outside of pregnancy. The sample consisted of both apparently healthy women and women diagnosed with recurrent miscarriage living on the territory of Tver and Tver region. The patients were divided into 5 groups. The psychodiagnostic study was conducted by using the Multipsychometer-05 hardware and software system. The SF 36 health survey was used as a diagnostic tool. Results: significant differences were revealed in terms of general health, physical performance, the influence of health status on role performance, the influence of emotional status on role performance, pain intensity, viability and self-assessment of mental health. Conclusion: patients with recurrent miscarriage, regardless of the causes of the disease, suffer both physically and mentally, which greatly increases the risk of various complications and can reduce both treatment efficacy and quality of life in general.
