This article examines the career orientations and psychological readiness for innovative activity among government civil servants of various groups of positions. The sample consisted of 772 respondents, of whom the groups “specialists” (n = 474) and “managers” (n = 271) were identified for comparative analysis. The respondents were differentiated by age levels: “youth” (specialists: n = 85, managers: n = 13) and “adulthood” (specialists: n = 188, managers: n = 110) in accordance with the periodization of V.I. Slobodchikov and G.A. Zukerman. The “Career Anchor” methodology by E. Schein and the psychological readiness for innovative activity questionnaire by V.E. Klochko and O.M. Krasnoryadtseva were used. Statistically significant differences were found between the groups: managers demonstrated a higher orientation toward “Management”, “Service”, and “Challenge”, as well as a greater willingness to embrace change. For all groups, “Job Security” was the dominant value.
