The article is devoted to the study of the exegesis John 1:1-5 by the great Syrian exegete Ishodad of Merv (9th century). For this purpose, the Syrian text of the Saint Petersburg Syr. 33 (Dorn 622), which presents the relevant commentary, and its Russian translation, are published for the first time. As a result of the study, isagogic information regarding authorship, dating, as well as features of the fourth Gospel is revealed. In addition, attention is focused on the Nestorian Triadology and Christology.
