Features of the case study method as an effective tool for teaching English to students of non-linguistic areas of higher educational institutions

The article deals with the case study method as a form of interactive teaching of English language to students of non-linguistic areas of higher educational institutions in the field of professional competence of their chosen field of study. Within the framework of the research the topical issues of the use of cases for the development of students' speech activity are considered. The study aims to analyze the case study method and its impact on the process of mastering a foreign language and professional skills training. The types of case tasks are assessed. Examples of the tasks developed by the authors that contribute to improving conversational skills, namely, in the assimilation and transmission of information, are given. In addition, the main features of the case study method are revealed. The results of students who used case study tasks and students who did not perform tasks based on this method are presented.
