Special aspects of training the students of national research universities for innovative engineering activities

The present article contains the principles for developing the programs for training engineers in research universities, case study of the National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University. The analysis of the researches on the training engineers for innovative engineering activities has been conducted; the analysis of the studies on developing necessary professional competencies of university graduates, including the training of elite professionals in the field of engineering and technology, has bee also carried out. Besides, the issues of developing research skills as important components of innovative activities have been considered. The final stage of the research was experimental interviewing the scientists and faculty staff directly involved in the work on developing the programs.
