Manifestation feature of locus of control of smoking students’ personality

This paper discusses the current problem of smoking in the youth environment. Recently there has been an increase in the number of young people who use tobacco. The psychological mechanisms and personality traits that contribute to the spread of smoking are considered in the study. The author analyses manifestation features of locus of control of students who smoke cigarettes. There were 142 second-year students of the general medicine department of the medical university, who took part in the research and were divided into two groups: those who consume and do not consume tobacco. The analysis of indicators of the locus of control and their comparison in these groups have been conducted. The tendency in distinguishing the level of locus of control and its indicators of smoking students and non-smoking ones was revealed. The discussion of the study results has allowed to identify significant areas of tobacco prevention.
