Features of the mental activity of the individual in the information and communication space

The article is devoted to the problem of the influence of the use of modern Internet technologies on mental activity and personal health. It is indicated that they develop digital amnesia, cyberchondria, Internet addiction, lost profit syndrome and sleep disorders. The psychological reasons for students' immersion in virtual reality are analyzed, as well as empirical research data. With the help of a survey, the use of psychodiagnostic techniques revealed the peculiarities of the behavior of students of the Belarusian National Technical University in the information and communication space, the level of Internet addiction, symptoms of depression. It is emphasized that it is necessary to fight not with the use of the Internet space, but with the root causes of the development of addictive behavior: traumatic situations and distress, maladaptation, social isolation, low communicative and information culture, low self-esteem, dysmorphic phobia, personal anxiety, infantilism, immaturity, maladaptive behaviors, character accentuation, tendency to depression and suicidal behavior, previously undiagnosed psychopathologies.
