Characteristics of representation of history in the novel by S. Rushdie "Midnight's children"

The article considers means of fictional representation of history in S.Rushdie’s «Midnight’s Children». Genre features of the novel are analyzedfrom the postmodernistic point of view, the concept of historiographicalmetafiction is revealed. Characteristics of representation of history at thelevel of concepts and images are determined. While examining "Midnight’sChildren" it is proved that in the novel subjective and personal way of de-picting historical events prevails, history is interpreted according to phi-losophical views of the writer.
