Features of syndrome of emotional burnout among health professionals

The article gives the results of the research of features of emotional burnout syndrome among health professionals. Basic psychiatric clinical “masks”, which manifest the emotional burnout among representatives of this group are studied. The model of psychological care which is suitable to the peculiarities of syndrome of emotional burnout among health professionals is proposed. Research based on the materials of the comparative study in four occupational groups (doctors, teachers, law enforcement officers, entrepreneurs) revealed that the professional medical activity carries a potential threat of the development of the emotional burnout. Risk factors for the early development of the syndrome of emotional burnout among the doctors and nurses are found, the leading place takes low level of job security caused by lack of practical experience, impossibility of systematic advanced training, emotionally-loaded professional activity on treatment and care of patients with oncological diseases, HIV/AIDS, burn and resuscitation patients. Provocative role of diseases, experience of distress and psychological traumas in formation of emotional burnout is identified. The conclusion about the need to include personal growth trainings in the system of psychological assistance to medical workers with a risk or symptoms of emotional burnout is justified.
