The article is devoted to the study of socio-psychological adaptation of first-year medical university students. The analysis of the concepts of “adaptation” and “anxiety” is carried out. To achieve the purpose of the study, the following psychological methods were used: 1) the method of diagnosing the socio-psychological adaptation of K. Rogers and R. Diamond in the adaptation of T.V. Snegireva; 2) the method of “Anxiety scale” by Ch.B. Spielberger in the adaptation of Yu. L. Khanin. As a result, it was found that first-year students have a reduced adaptability to the educational process, despite a pronounced indicator of self-acceptance and positive self-esteem, as well as a high degree of responsibility for their lives and activities. The parameter of the tendency to dominate is shown, reflecting the desire to feel superiority over others. The 19 students had a high level of situational anxiety. The results of the study can be used by psychologists of educational institutions in the preparation of programs for psychological support of socio-psychological adaptation of medical students.
