Features of educational motivation of adults in the process of professional retraining and advanced training

The article examines the learning motivation of adults in the process of retraining or advanced training. The specificity of educational motives is considered in correlation with professional orientation and peculiarities of professional activity. Two sample groups are compared: the first group consists of school teachers, and the second one consists of employees of an agricultural enterprise. Significant differences between the groups in the manifestation of different educational motives have been identified. Teachers are dominated by internal motives reflecting cognitive interest, employees of the enterprise - external motives, orientation towards social success. The author found mutual and specific correlations between academic motives and motives showing personality orientation. Suggested ways in which the problem can be further explored are outlined.
