Peculiarities of object choice when learning the discipline “Artistic treatment of materials”

The article defines the concept of the discipline “Artistic Treatment of Materials”, which is important for students of a technical profile, future teachers of handicrafts. We have revealed the aspects of choosing “Souvenir cat” as a rafted object within the framework of this discipline. The article describes the developed working skills, mental cognitive processes, ability to analyze one's activities and work with graphic and technological documentation. We have identified the ways of organizing and interacting with students in crafting the object, depending on their preferences and abilities, the possibilities of manifesting creativity in the process of work, namely freedom in choosing a way of organizing the work, a unique sketch of the work (both from those proposed, and found or developed independently), in applying an individual pattern using contour carving on wood, as well as a final rendering, including a unique colorful drawing or stained color coating.
