The article summarizes practical experience in teaching children Yakut songs in the original language within the framework of the regional project Music for Everyone in general education schools of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The relevance of the study is determined by the need to familiarize children with the cultural traditions of the Sakha people in a multicultural environment. Analysis of the vocal repertoire re-vealed key challenges related to the intonational and phonetic characteristics of the Yakut language, highlighting the necessity of introducing children to the specific intonational patterns of Yakut songs and the phonetics of the Yakut language. As a result, the sequence of mastering vocal works proposed by the authors of the anthologies for the regional curriculum of the subject Music (grades 1–4) was modified. The process of familiarizing younger students with the pronunciation of letters in the Yakut alphabet provided a new perspective on the issue of performing national songs in the original language by Russian-speaking children. It em-phasizes the need to involve teachers proficient in Yakut, supplementary education teachers, parents, and students themselves in mastering the phonetics of the language. The article proposes an authorial approach to adjusting the sequence of learning songs and justifies the in-volvement of native speakers in the pedagogical process to achieve authentic pro-nunciation.
