The use of lexical units in teaching Russian in the initial period

The article discusses the difficulties faced by Chinese students in studying Russian as a foreign language, especially in the initial period. Students majoring in Russian are beginners who don't have any foundation of Russian. So it is very difficult for them to pronounce and memorize a large number of new words, as well as simultaneously understand and master complex grammar. In order to help students overcome these difficulties, the author suggests the use of lexical units in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The article analyzes the definition and classification of lexical units, on which the author put forward three criteria for identifying lexical units. Lexical chunks are effective communication units that combine vocabulary and grammar, including the following three categories: stable phrases that consist of several words with a fixed form and are used as a phrase; idioms that are stored in memory as language units, including proverbs, aphorisms, social idioms and other familiar expressions;lexical units that provide a compositional structure for constructing a complete expression. The author shows the process of using lexical units in teaching Russian as a foreign language, including the identification of lexical units, the compilation of a table of lexical units and practical exercises using lexical units. Awareness of lexical units and mastering them is very important in the process of learning foreign languages, as well as in teaching. In the article the author gives a positive assessment the functions of lexical units in the teaching of Russian as a foreign language. They reduce the cognitive load of students during the formation of a communicative intention, on the one hand, and on the other - lexical units are easier to assimilate entirely. Especially at the initial stage, relying on lexical units, students can easily implement communicative tasks in typical situations, ensuring accuracy, fluency and authenticity of students' speech.
