Variation of orthoepic norm reflected in the German pronouncing dictionary "Deutsches aussprache-worterbuch" (illustrated by exceptions from the reading rules)

The article is dedicated to the variation of orthoepic norm reflected in the German pronouncing dictionary (Deutsches Ausspracheworterbuch 2009/2010), as illustrated by certain exceptions from the reading rules that exist in the German language. Special attention is paid to the adequacy of the given orthoepic recommendations: the data presented in the dictionary are compared to the usage of the items by native speakers.
