Deteriorative phraseological units as a component of the ethnic mentality of the Buryats

The article is devoted to the problem of evaluativity as an element of the connotation of phraseological units, in particular, deteriorative phraseological units of the Buryat language. We have singled out two groups of deteriorative phraseological units of the Buryat language, demonstrating qualities that cause a negative assessment: “immoral behavior” and “asocial behavior”. The article considers only deteriorative phraseological units of general appraisal, which, in turn, are divided into subjective and objective phraseological units. Brightness, national specificity of the considered phraseological units are achieved through such images as emotives-nominatives, associatives, reflexives and coloronyms, which play an important role in acquiring a negative connotation by phraseological units. We emphasize that coloronyms in Buryat phraseological units can form different configurations. The article considers lexical and grammatical ways of expressing negative connotations in phraseological units. It is noted that the presence of grammatical or component negation in the Buryat phraseological units does not always give rise to their negative connotation.
