In recent decades, great attention was paid to the problem of orphan diseases. Significant progress has been made in understanding their pathogenesis, new effective methods of therapy have appeard. One of these diseases is paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH). The paper discusses historical changes in the understanding of the nature of this pathology, a modern view of the problem of PNG and the prospects for further improvement of the therapy of this progressive and life-threatening disease.
