Patriotic education of modern Russian youth: the main problems and promising directions

The article examines the main problems of the functioning of the national system of patriotic education of youth and the prospects for its further implementation in the context of the policy of the modern Russian state. Patriotic education involves the implementation by various state and public structures of activities aimed at the formation of patriotic consciousness, a sense of loyalty to the Fatherland, readiness to fulfill civic duty and constitutional obligations to protect the interests of the Motherland in the representatives of the young generation of Russians. The authors note that in the minds of a significant part of young people there are still rather vague and uncertain ideas about patriotism and its essence. Despite the fact that the absolute majority of young people declare unconditional commitment to the ideas of patriotism, many of them are not oriented towards living in their country and working for the benefit of society. Conclusion dwells upon the fact that the patriotic education of young people in the conditions of transformation processes in Russian society is a complex multi-component system characterized by a high level of dynamism and variability, the degree of effectiveness of its functioning depends on the coordinated work of all subjects of the educational process.
