Pedagogical Problems related to Development of Law Enforcement Officers’ Aesthetic Culture and their Possible Solutions

Introduction. The aesthetic culture of law enforcement officers is one of the most important areas of educational work carried out by the pedagogical subjects of the Ministry. The goal is to identify and systematize pedagogical problems in the development of the aesthetic culture of the officers and determine possible ways to solve them. Materials and Methods. Scientific pedagogical resources, concepts of aesthetic culture of personality, theoretical fundamentals for its development including law enforcement officers’ aesthetic education. The authors employ M. Rokeach method of “Human Values”, V.V. Boyko “Empathy Level”, the authors’ questionnaire of establishing component-specific level of aesthetic culture development. The sample included 1,396 law enforcement officers: 1,071 men and 325 female officers. Results and Discussion. Value orientations on aesthetic perception of beauty of nature and art, creative activity along with empathy proved to be the least significant for the officers. The level of empathy in most officers (81%) belongs to the category of “lower than average”. More than half of the respondents showed insufficient level of development of aesthetic culture, which proves necessity of carrying out special work with the officers to enhance empathy. Conclusions. The results actualize the necessity of paying more attention to aesthetic education of officers at the lessons devoted to the development of law enforcement officers’ aesthetic culture and implementation of situational methods of educational work.
