The article examines the pedagogical conditions of formation and development of cadets' personal economic culture in a military university using cognitive and axiological approaches to modern methods of teaching economic disciplines in a military university. The target and result components of the formation of economic culture of students are disclosed. The possibility and feasibility of using passive, active or interactive training methods in the educational process is considered. Interrelationships of cognitive and axiological approaches are presented in the light of development of cadets' knowledge of the essence of economic categories and laws with adequate reflection in their minds of economic notions, inferences and judgments necessary for formation of economic culture and professionally significant level of officer's personal qualities. It is emphasized that the combination of these approaches within the framework of creating the necessary pedagogical conditions for the development of economic culture in cadets is the most effective way of its formation, as it contributes to the effective solution of military-professional tasks of future officers.
