The relevance of the study of pedagogical diagnosis of the professional formation of students of a technical university by means of engineering and graphic disciplines is determined by significant changes in the curriculum for the preparation of bachelors in the «Construction» direction, expressed in a significant reduction in hours for engineering and graphic preparation with an increased role in project activities in the future. The content of pedagogical diagnosis, corresponding to the set goal, is the development and implementation of assessment and diagnostic tools that contribute to the identification of criteria for assessing the professional development of students of a technical university in the process of engineering and graphic preparation. In the presented paper, the authors considered the theoretical aspect of the problems of pedagogical diagnosis, the development of assessment and diagnostic tools, the identification of its criteria, the content of each criterion and its focus. In accordance with the content and orientation of the criteria for the assessment and diagnostic tools of the professional development of students of a technical university by means of engineering and graphic disciplines, the filling of each criterion is proposed.
