The article deals with the essence and theoretical framework of pedagogical support of university teachers in their professional development. The author studies the content and structure of professional competence, which is represented by four components: personal, cognitive, motivational and activities-related. The paper describes forms, methods, techniques and conditions for the effective organization of the pedagogical support. On the basis of the identified criteria and indicators the author defines the levels of the professional competence and makes conclusions.
